John C. Weller earned his B.A from U.C. Berkeley and his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. Weller has been a prosecutor with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for over ten years. He is currently assigned to the Cyber Crime Division. This is a specialized division within the District Attorney’s Office, consisting of ten carefully selected Deputy District Attorneys devoted to computer crimes.

The Cyber Crime Division is responsible for the prosecution of computer enabled crimes such as network intrusions, organized identification theft rings, credit card fraud, insider fraud, crimes against children, and all other crimes where computers are the instrumentality or targets of crime. Weller is currently prosecuting crimes involving identity theft, embezzlement, pandering, and child pornography. Additionally, he has initiated efforts within the Cyber Crime Division to prosecute criminal activity on the Dark Web. He is coordinating with law enforcement agencies that are exploring ways to detect and apprehend people who are engaging in criminal activities on the Dark Web.
